Privacy Policy

This policy describes information collected during a visit, why it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. These practices apply throughout the Dawes County Criminal History website. Continuing to browse or use a search feature indicates acceptance of this policy.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search box is sent to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. We do not keep a local log of the terms submitted through those search fields.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email may be retained long enough to read it, respond, and preserve ordinary business records. It is not shared outside the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Normal server logs collect basic technical facts when a page loads:

  • The IP address assigned to your device
  • Which browser you are using and its version
  • Your device type and operating system
  • The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
  • The site that sent you here, if any
  • Timestamps for each page view

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure traffic patterns, such as popular pages and the points where visits end. Analytics vendors may combine this activity into summary reports. A browser can reject or remove cookies, although some features may then work differently.

What We Do With This Data

  • Route a submitted query to the selected search provider
  • Maintain site availability, speed, and security
  • Diagnose errors and other technical faults
  • Measure which resources visitors use
  • Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

No database of personal criminal records is maintained, compiled, or sold here. The site publishes general directions to Dawes County custodians, including the sheriff and court clerks, and to the Nebraska State Patrol Criminal Identification Division and Nebraska Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a dossier about another person.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own privacy terms govern information entered there, including how long they retain it and when they share it. Those choices are outside our control. Read the provider's policy before sending a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to the Dawes County Sheriff, Nebraska courts, state agencies, legal resources, or independent search services. A destination's policy takes over once its page opens. Review those terms before providing personal information.

Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and tailor ads. We do not control that tracking.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

  • Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
  • Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
  • Ad networks that place ads on our pages
  • Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable technical and operational safeguards protect collected data. No internet service can promise perfect security, so a breach or unauthorized access cannot be ruled out.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A verified report that a minor supplied data will be addressed by deleting that information.

Your Data Rights

Nebraska consumer protections, including the Nebraska Consumer Protection Act, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 59-1601 through 59-1623, may apply based on the facts and a user's location. The Nebraska Public Records Act, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 84-712 through 84-712.09, governs records held by public bodies, not visitor data held by this private site. Criminal-history dissemination is separately limited by Neb. Rev. Stat. § 29-3523. Subject to applicable law, a user may:

  • Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
  • Have us fix information that is wrong
  • Request that we erase your data
  • Opt out of certain kinds of data processing

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. A replacement takes effect when it is posted here with an updated effective date.
